Terms of Service
The terms for using fab.
DraftLast updated
fab is a free preview, made by Arach Tchoupani. These terms cover the fab apps for macOS and Omarchy and this website, fab.run. In short: use fab as it’s meant to be used, what you make with it is yours, and because it’s an early preview it comes without promises.
Agreeing to these terms
By downloading, installing or using fab, or using this website, you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use fab. “We” and “us” mean Arach Tchoupani, who makes fab; “you” means the person using it.
How we handle information is in the Privacy Policy, and how fab is licensed is on the License page. Both are part of these terms.
fab is a preview
fab is early software, offered free of charge while it’s in preview. Parts of it may change, stop working or be removed between builds, and the preview itself may end. We don’t promise that any feature will be kept, that fab will always be available, or that we can answer every message.
Keep your own copies of anything that matters to you. fab keeps what you say and grab on your computer, so a backup of your computer is also the backup of your fab History.
Using the apps
The Mac app. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable permission to download, install and use the Mac app, for personal or work use, while these terms apply. The Mac app isn’t open source. Please don’t sell it, redistribute its installer, or modify, decompile or reverse-engineer it except where the law allows you to regardless of these terms.
fab for Omarchy. The Linux app is released under the MIT License, which governs what you may do with that software. These terms still cover this website and how we provide downloads and support.
fab asks your system for the permissions it needs to work, such as the microphone, screen recording and accessibility on a Mac. You choose whether to grant them and can take them back in your system settings at any time; some parts of fab won’t work without them.
What you make is yours
Your words, recordings, screenshots, markup and anything else you make with fab belong to you. We don’t claim any rights to them, and because fab does this work on your computer, we don’t receive a copy.
You’re responsible for what you capture and where you send it. Respect other people’s privacy and the law where you are, especially when recording conversations or capturing someone else’s information on screen.
Other apps and services
fab works alongside apps you already use: it pastes into them, and it can hand what you said or grabbed to another app or service when you ask it to. Those apps and services are run by others, under their own terms and privacy policies, and we aren’t responsible for them.
Names and marks of other products shown on this site or in fab belong to their owners. Showing them doesn’t mean fab is affiliated with or endorsed by them.
Updates
The Mac app checks once a day whether a newer build is out and tells you; it installs one only when you choose to. On Omarchy, updates come as a new package. What changed in each build is in the release notes.
This website and its forms
Please use the signup and contact forms for what they’re for. Don’t send spam, try to break or overload the site or the forms, or use them to send someone else’s address without their permission. We may block submissions that look like abuse.
The app scenes drawn on this site show how fab behaves; they aren’t recordings. Clips on the tour and guide pages are screen recordings of the running app, played back as they happened, and other apps appear in them as the tools you already use. Pictures from the Omarchy app use sample levels and sentences.
No warranty
fab and this website are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don’t promise that fab will be error-free, that transcriptions or captures will be accurate, or that it will work with every app, device or setup.
Limits on liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, profits or work, arising from your use of fab or this website, even if we were told such damage was possible. fab is free, and our total liability for any claim about it is limited to the amount you paid us for it.
Some places don’t allow some of these limits. Where that’s the case, they apply only as far as the law where you live permits, and nothing here takes away rights you have that can’t be waived.
Stopping
You can stop using fab at any time by quitting and deleting it. We can end the preview or your use of fab if you break these terms. The sections on what you make, no warranty and limits on liability continue to apply after that.
Changes to these terms
We’ll update these terms as fab changes, and change the date at the top of this page when we do. If you keep using fab after an update, the new terms apply from then on.
